There are a lot of unknowns right now for us in public education.  So please give us some flexibility in rolling out this new format of instruction.  First, we need to try and maintain some form of student growth academically.  We need parents and students to try their best to get assignments done, so in the event we return we can pick up and continue to move forward.  Maybe I should not have used the word "voluntary" when discussing this new platform. But as parents you do have a choice in your child's education more than ever.  If you choose not to help keep you child moving forward with school work, it will impact them later with gaps that we will have to address.  We are doing our best to give you some guidance and support.  The issue of grading is coming up in conversations.  We will collect the work for grading purposes, we are not sure how that grade will be reflected at this time.  So yes your child needs to do the work.  We will not punish any student for not doing it, but there will gaps in there academics that may or may not be recoverable.  This is not a perfect system, but I am pleading with you to try your best and ask us for help if you need it.  We will get better at delivery of content as we move forward.  Our HS students have been doing this all year to some degree because we are a 1 to 1 school.  All students at the HS are issued Chromebooks and they have been doing their lessons digitally.  The other campuses are trying to roll out instruction in this format in the matter of days that has taken us a year to change our delivery of instruction at the HS.

Please help us work through the obstacles and glitches with feedback.  We hate that we are not doing what we are called to do and that is educate and take care of your kids.  We miss our students and we would rather have our students with us than at home. We are trying to keep up with changes from the Texas Education Agency, as this is all new to them as well so we get updates that change from day to day as what we should be doing.  It is a stressful time for all of us.  I pray for our community and an end to this so we can have our kids back in school.

Please take care of your families and we will get through this together.
